Suffolk County Traffic and Parking Violation Agency Driver Safety Programs

You are required by the Suffolk County Traffic Court to complete a Driver Safety Program.  Please refer to the Suffolk County Traffic Court Referral Form given to you by the Judge to determine what course you need to complete below.  Note:  National Safety Council is not responsible for drivers completing the wrong program.  Please be sure to choose the correct course.

CLASSROOM Classes

6-Hour Defensive Driving Course (DDC6 - NY PIRP)

This class provides a 10% reduction, for 3 years, of your liability, no-fault and collision insurance premiums, and up to a 4-point reduction on your driving record.

Cost: $90

4-Hour Alive at 25 Course (AL25)

Alive at 25 is a highly interactive 4-hour intervention program that zeros in on drivers ages 16 to 24, the group most likely to be involved in a fatal collision. Alive at 25 uses workbook exercises, group discussions, role-playing and short lectures to help keep young drivers safe on the road.

Cost: $90

8-Hour Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving (8ADD)

The eight-hour Defensive Driving Course Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving is aimed at changing behavior behind the wheel.  Through this course, drivers learn why they continue to have driving related problems and how they can take responsibility for their actions

Welcome to the Suffolk County Traffic and Parking Violation Agency Driver Safety Programs.  The Suffolk County Traffic and Parking Violation Agency has mandated that you complete one of the classes shown above.

National Safety Council (NSC) offers Suffolk County Traffic Court drivers the most relevant, leading-edge driver safety content to motivate and educate you to be safe and responsible. NSC frequently updates our curriculum to keep the content current, relative and engaging.

National Safety Council will provide your successful course completion information to Suffolk County TPVA the business day following your class. Suffolk County TPVA will use this information to track completion of your court requirement.

For the Defensive Driving Class (DDC6 – NY PIRP) only, National Safety Council will also mail a Certificate of Completion to the address you provided within 2-3 weeks of the course completion and will electronically notify the New York State (NYS) DMV. If you are eligible, the DMV will automatically apply the point reduction to your driving record. You are responsible for submitting the Certificate of Completion to your insurance company, who will automatically apply the reduction to your policy.
