The PEF Membership Benefits Program is pleased to provide active, dues-paying PEF members, retirees, and their immediate family members, who reside in New York state, with the National Safety Council’s Online Defensive Driving Courseware.
The PEF Membership Benefits Program is very concerned about driver safety since vehicle accidents are the leading cause of work-related fatalities in America. Please make your safety a priority and register to take and complete the 6-hour course.
The eligible individuals noted above, can take this course at the reduced price of $21 per person, a savings of over $21 per course fee.
Once you have completed this course, in addition to learning valuable knowledge about how to become a more defensive driver, you may also qualify for a personal auto insurance discount. Please contact your auto insurance carrier to see if you qualify for a discount. You may also receive a reduction of up to 4 points on your driving record. (PLEASE NOTE: Taking the course does not remove a violation, conviction, or the number of points from your driving record.)
Upon successful completion of this course, an official National Safety Council Certificate of Completion will be mailed to you the next business day. (PLEASE NOTE: It may take 6-8 weeks to receive your certificate. Please watch your mail carefully and if you do not receive your certificate within 3 months of taking the course, call (800) 962-3434 to request another certificate be mailed to you at no cost.) Your successful completion status will also be electronically transmitted to the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. If you are eligible, the DMV will automatically apply the point reduction to your driving record.
Please be aware that the registration process is designed to meet all NYS DMV regulations. You must agree to the Terms and Conditions, and you must complete all required registration fields, many of which are designed to validate your identity as you proceed through the course. This process helps to prevent fraudulent completion of the course for the state and insurance benefits.
