Terms of Reference
The Emergency Medical Services Committee deals
with concerns relating to pre-hospital and emergency care,
passenger and motor vehicle safety, fitness to drive, disaster
planning, trauma care, and accident prevention.
The committee liaises with relevant government
ministries, CanDRIVE, RCMP, ICBC, BCAA, AAA, Emergency Health
Services Commission of BC, St John Ambulance, Emergency
Physicians Association of BC, Safe Start Program, and CMA -
Emergency Medical Services Committee.

Future Plans
- Planning for the next major revision of
the Guide for Physicians in Determining Fitness to Drive a
Motor Vehicle. The Guide is found online at
www.drivesafe.com along with proposed updates, and useful
links. The committee will also continue to liaise with the
CMA on the CMA Guide to Drive.
- Honoring Dr. Herb Parkin’s contribution
to health promotion and the BC Ambulance Service
Committee Membership
The Emergency Medical Services Committee
would welcome the addition of a Trauma Surgeon with
affiliation on the American College of Surgeons Trauma
Committee.
